Point Paper Conservation
The final part of the Cartwright & Sheldon project focused on point paper conservation. During the last week, we accomplished the following: Cleaned 261 objects using simple surface cleaning techniques. Identified a pattern numbering system. Found evidence that patterns created in the 1920s were reused in the 1960s.

Paper Conservation
As we approach the end of the Cartwright & Sheldon project, one of the last tasks is paper conservation. Our goal is to align some of the point paper designs with the textile fabrics. Before doing so, we'll conduct surface cleaning using brushing, smoke sponges, and eraser crumbs, and we'll also remove any rusty pins or clips.

Silk Weaving & Design Archive Fabrics

As we kick off 2026, our focus is on advancing the Cartwright & Sheldon silk weaving archive. We've diligently sifted through over 100 boxes of predominantly silk textiles, each containing 100 to 200 items, making this a meticulous journey. We've pinpointed 50 boxes that require immediate cleaning and repacking, and we're excited to apply our new skills to ensure these treasures are preserved the future. So far, our exploration has revealed 19 distinct weaving styles in just
