Like many of us, I never really appreciated the significance of a take-out coffee until it was gone during lockdown. It had become part of my daily dog-walking routine, a reward and an opportunity to socialise with friends and chat with the baristas who made the coffee. During lockdown, and without the prospect of a hot drink, I recorded my walks using mapping apps. Using this information along with my photography, I translated these journeys onto the cup sleeves of Costa cups via the sublimation printing process , creating a memory of time and place. So many cups now litter the landscape , the opportunity to upcycle these discarded items into artworks was equally restorative during the pandemic.
